It is hard to believe that it is already the end of the first trimester. Parents/guardians will receive an email early next week when grades have been finalized in Power School. At this time, you will be able to log in to Power School and see your students T1 grades.

Our freshmen students will be submitting their shop choices on December 20 and starting in their shops on 1/13/25!

The district is pleased to announce that two of our programs received a Skills Capital Grant. The grant funds will be utilized to upgrade equipment in the Auto Tech program and to purchase equipment for the Health Careers program related to the provision of telehealth services.

I continue to look for ways to engage with students and families in my second year as Principal. This week, I held the second Principal's Advisory meeting with a group of students. This advisory is intended to provide time for me to listen to student's experience and to seek input on student interests. Our School Council, which includes parent and industry representatives, students and faculty is again proving to be a highly engaged group. This group has already given their input on the School Improvement Plan and will soon weigh in on the budget.

The fall athletic season came to an end with the varsity football team competing in the Vocational Superbowl at Blue Hills on Wednesday, December 4. The team came away victorious with a 36 - 30 win!

The winter athletic season has begun with 277 students registered to participate in a winter sport. Lights have been added to the parking lot next to the gym for those students and guests who will be coming for evening athletic events.

Bungee Jumping Princesses

Bungee Jumping Princesses

I am often amused as I walk the hallways and stop into classes by the exhibits of learning at TC. A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon Engineering freshmen engaged in the great egg drop. Just this week, I turned a corner and saw a line of Health Careers exploratory freshmen in wheelchairs and on crutches, learning to ambulate. On that same day, I noticed a series of tape measures and Disney princess signs hanging on the walls near the math hallway. My curiosity was satisfied when later that day, I found Ms. Thornton's senior math class in that very hallway with Barbie dolls on rubber bands. Per Ms. Thornton, the current unit of study is the relationship between two quantitative variables. To test this, students were "exploring the connection between the number of rubber bands attached to a Disney Princess (the bungee cord) and the distance travelled when "jumping".  The capstone of the unit is a second Bungee Jumping day where students will use their newly acquired knowledge to predict the proper number of rubber bands to attach so that their Princess gets the most thrilling jump possible without meeting an unfortunate end.  This jump is much more harrowing as she takes the plunge from the catwalk into the cafeteria below."
